If an end of trial has been declared by 28 April 2026 and a deferral has been agreed before this date then the existing deferral will end at the date previously agreed. It will be possible for sponsors to request an extension if needed.

If an end of trial has been declared by 28 April 2026 and a deferral has not been agreed before this date, the trial will not be required to follow the transparency requirements in the new regulations. No automatic deferral will be applied or required in this circumstance.

If a trial has not ended by 28 April 2026 and a deferral has been agreed before this date, the existing deferral will automatically be extended so it expires 30 months after the end of trial is declared.

If a trial has not ended by 28 April 2026 and a deferral has not been agreed before this date, a deferral will automatically apply to the trial, which will extend to 30 months after the end of trial is declared.
