The information in these research summaries is extracted from the REC application form. Further information about the research can be obtained from the person listed on the details page.
Sponsors may request the deferral of the publication of the research summary (within three months from the date of the final REC opinion letter) where there are concerns of commercial confidentiality. The sponsor/researcher/applicant can also request updates.
We aim to publish the research summary information for all COVID-19 research within 3 days of approval, so that the research community and wider public can see information about studies taking place in relation to the current pandemic. We are asking sponsors not to request deferral of the publication of these research summaries.
You can search for approved COVID-19 research by typing ‘COVID-19’ into the search function on the left.
New research will be marked as [COVID-19] in the title. Existing research that has added on a COVID-19 element will be marked as [COVID-19] with the amendment date in the ‘research summary’ field.
Some of the approved research are categorised as Urgent Public Health Research Studies for COVID-19. They are marked as [UPH]. You can also find a list of these studies on the NIHR website.
Some of the approved research studies access confidential patient data without consent through the general notice under the Health Service Control of Patient Information Regulations 2002 . They are marked as [Study relying on COPI notice].
