New release marks another step forward

Last updated on 6 Aug 2026

We have recently released additional functionality for existing users on plan and manage health and care research. This is another important step in the continued development of the service and lays the foundation for future development.

This release introduces a focused set of improvements designed to make the service more flexible, clearer and easier to use for those already working within it. While the changes are targeted, they represent meaningful progress.

One of the main improvements is the introduction of the request for further information (RFI) functionality. Reviewers are now able to make these requests in the service. Applicants can respond to a RFI and provide additional documents and sponsors can then review and authorise responses before they are sent back to the reviewer. This is an important step forward, meaning that modifications no longer need to be rejected and resubmitted.

The release also includes improvements to how project teams and participating organisations are managed. These changes make it easier to keep project information up to date and support a more structured approach to capturing key study details. In addition, updates to notifications and system administration help improve the overall user experience.
