Research summary
Zone West is the name of a pilot innovation funded by voluntary sector grants to explore the possibilities of an asset-based approach to prevention in the West End of Newcastle. The link workers will work with children identified from 3 GP practices who attend one of 4 local primary schools to create personalised plans based on the child’s identified needs and to link them into existing local assets. The aim of the research is to evaluate if a link worker using an asset based prevention strategy impacts on the lives of children in the West End of Newcastle. The aim is to evaluate if the link worker intervention improves quality of life (QoL), strengths and difficulties and educational attainment and attendance and health and lifestyle behaviour in children who are known to be at risk of difficulties.
