Data collection arrangements
A wide range of samples are intended to be collected and stored based on local researcher demand and clinical care team support. These include colorectal cancer, myeloid blood, cord blood and breast tissue. Tissues will be stored in secure, monitored facilities in various formats, ranging from -70C freezers and liquid nitrogen to room temperature paraffin embedded material.
Data will be collected from hospital information systems (including date of birth, gender, diagnosis, treatment, disease classification, and pathology) and from participant questionnaires (including lifestyle habits, family history and ethnicity). All information will be securely stored on encrypted servers and given out in pseudonymised form.
Informed consent will be taken by trained staff, and participants will not undergo any procedures beyond those necessary for their clinical care, except on occasions with specific consent for an additional blood sample. Consent will be obtained at the most appropriate point in the participants care pathway, as determined through consultation with the relevant clinical team.Research programme
The York Tissue Bank will serve all researchers in the University of York, Hospital Trust sites, and their collaborators, who have a demand for human tissue and research goals aimed at improving and furthering understanding of healthcare.
