    Data will be initially held by the Data Manager (RVI)and will be discussed and approved by Professor Griffin. The Data Manager will then encrypt the file (with the advice of the I.T dept) and then sent electronically to Carolyn Apperson-Hansen, MStat, WECC Project Director, The Cleveland Clinic (WECC). The Hospital ID number will be deleted from the spreadsheet before being sent to the WECC, although the Study ID number will be on the spreadsheet to act as a link number. A site file has been set up and held in a secure environment (locked door office)at the RVI, Data Manager's Office.

    Cleveland Clinic Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery The Clinical Research Section of the Department of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, headed by fulltime physician-investigator Eugene Blackstone, MD, is housed in a new 21,256 square-foot facility connected to the hospital complex and is accessible to clinicians and researchers. The clinical research group is multidisciplinary team,with a group of registry technicians, nurses, a nurseeducator,and an MD/MBA quality assurance manager maintaining registries for thoracic and cardiovascular surgery and patient follow-up, a group of clinical trials nurses, a group of technical personnel and nurses who focus on individual investigator-initiated projects, a group of professional data managers, informatics faculty, scientific and statistical programmers, and a group of masters- and PhD-level statisticians. The team is managed by an RN/PhD, with leadership provided both by Dr. Blackstone (associate editor, Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery) and his cardiologist colleague, Dr. Michael Lauer (contributing editor, JAMA). The RUTCOR building is fully equipped to house the researchers associated to this project. The offices are equipped with all the necessary facilities including PCs and workstations with T1 Internet connection. It is located on the Busch Campus of Rutgers University—its major mathematical science and technology campus. Two major libraries are located on campus.
