Research summary
The primary aim of WIN-HD study is to detect white matter changes, such as changes in volume and distribution, far from the onset of the symptoms in Huntington’s disease mutation carriers. 30 participants will be included in this study – 15 people with the HD genetic mutation and 15 healthy controls- and they will be asked to attend two study visits, 12 months apart, where MRI scans and neuropsychiatric assessments will be undertaken.
The results of this study will help us to understand white-matter and behaviour changes in the early stages of HD, and will enable us to develop/optimize MRI scan techniques to study white-matter changes in this population.REC name
