Research summary
This study will examine whether a education program developed for young people with Type 1 diabetes in Sheffield can be successfully delivered by two centres in Yorkshire (Leeds and Harrogate). Staff from the diabetes centres in Leeds and Harrogate will observe an education course and receive training and support from the educators who developed the course in Sheffield. Young people will be recruited from diabetes clinics in Leeds and Harrogate and courses will be delivered in these centres with help from a diabetes educator from Sheffield. We will collect medical information and ask young people to fill in questionnaires about views about diabetes and knowledge before and after the study. We will use this information to assess if there have been any changes from taking part in the course. We will also continue to evaluate young people you take part in the course in Sheffield.
