Research summary
The research will consist of undertaking interviews with parents of children aged under 5 years who have attended the Urgent Treatment Centre with an illness. It is intended that the research will lead to a greater understanding of parent choice and reasons for attending the service in this cohort of patients. The experience from the parents perspective from their child becoming ill to seeking help and experience of their care and outcome will provide a valuable insight. Local and national publicity is asking the public to make the right choice, right place when seeking same day services for an urgent care problem. The information gained from the study will further inform health care providers and commissioners of care, from the perspective of the service user to inform future care and service delivery.
