  • Research summary

We would like to gain patient perspective and insight into the possibility of acute proactive palliative care (PC) in the emergency department (ED) for patients already known to PC services.
We propose that a senior PC presence in ED could improve the patients' journeys, however, to really prove this, we need to know what is important to the patients in the ED themselves.
Therefore, we are proposing that we seek patients who flag as known to PC services and who present to the ED and asking them a simple 2 question questionnaire.
This will help us guide future work around what the PC presence in the ED looks like and what are positive outcomes of that, but also, it will be a useful piece of research about what is important to these patients in ED.
