  • Research summary

DESIGN Feasibility randomized controlled trial (RCT)
AIMS The traditional follow-up after the completion of treatment for gynaecologic malignancies involves regular scheduled follow-up visits, which is a history and a clinical examination, nothing else involved unless we suspect recurrence. These are aim
aim precisely to detect early recurrent disease. However, the evidence suggests that most recurrences present with symptoms in between visits. With an increasing number of cancer survivors in the UK, the National Initiative for the Cancer Survivorship Agenda aims to radically modernise current follow-up strategies with an aim to improve patient experience and reduce costs.
OUTCOME MEASURES feasibility and patient reported outcomes
POPULATION We are proposing a feasibility study in women treated for low risk endometrial malignancy. Women will be randomised to clinically supported self-awareness follow-up (n=30) versus traditional formalised hospital-based follow-up (n=30).These follow ups will be 3 monhtly (1st year),4 monthly (2nd year), 6 monthly (3rd year), 12monthly (year4-5)
ELIGIBILITY Women with low risk endometrial cancer that have completed surgical treatment.
    DURATION 5 years (2016-2021)
