Data collection arrangements
Images for brain, bones, heart, chest and blood vessels. Stored at the Hallamshire Hospital , Sheffield NHS Teaching Hospital behind the NHS firewall.Test results e.g. blood pressure readings Nine Health CIC will process the data ( we are part of the NHS - our NHS organisational code is ODS 8HW53) and we are a hosted secure N3 organisation.Data will be stored in Sheffield as above or in West and South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw NHS Commissioning Support Unit as it grows. They store and process NHS data for the whole of Yorkshire at the moment.
Research programme
We are using the data to test new interventions to save lives - we build supercomputer models and test devices and new medicines on the data rather than on patients or animals. We have a suite of tools available to researchers which speeds up the research process and reduces the costs. This project is funded by the European Union Government and is led by the University of Sheffield. We have already changed the way AIDS/HIV is treated as we create a patient on the computer with symptoms similar to a real patient and then test the drug combination on the avatar meaning the patient receives the best care possible.
