Research summary
The aim of this qualitative investigation is to better understand how individuals with a diagnosis of Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder (EUPD) make sense of their voice hearing experiences. Participants will be recruited from Assessment and Treatment Services and the East Sussex Community Network associated with Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (SPFT). Semi-structured interviews will be conducted to gain data on the phenomenological, interpretative and existential characteristics of voice hearing experiences. All interviews will be audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim and analysed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA) techniques. Findings from this study will further our qualitative understanding of voice hearing experiences in the context of EUPD and aid the reduction of stigma and clinical uncertainty surrounding EUPD and voice hearing.
