Research summary
The present study aims to explore views on relapse in cigarette smoking quit attempts among South Asian males and Caucasian males living in the London borough of Ealing. Although past research has found several causes of relapse, these have been established through quantitative methods and/or among populations other than South Asians or Caucasian males outside the borough. Most of the literature is dominated by Western studies whereas the present study aims to fill this gap in the literature not only by focusing on a specific population but also by implementing qualitative methods. Participants will be invited to take part in a semi-structured interview that will last approximately 30 minutes with the researcher. This discussion will give the participants the opportunity to share their experiences and the barriers they faced to maintain a smoke-free life. Implications of this study will be discussed.
