Research summary
Diabetes is increasing in prevalence and complexity in the care home setting affecting up to 25% of residents. Health outcomes for these residents are related to healthcare professionals' decision making skills and access to specialist services.
This project focuses on the influence of using technology within care homes in the Highlands to address the needs of residents living with diabetes, and how technology can be used to address the needs of the care home staff in relation to diabetes education and training, and access to specialist services.
Focus groups and interviews with care home staff and residents will be undertaken and it is hoped that this research will enhance knowledge and understanding of diabetes management and care delivery within the care home setting by exploring views of staff and residents in the care home community.REC name
