  • Research summary

Osteoarthritis (OA) is a painful and disabling chronic condition and can lead to reduced joint function and deformity. In patients with severe and chronic OA in the ankle, total ankle replacement (TAR) is becoming a more popular treatment option where non medical treatments such as medication and physiotherapy has failed.

Vantage Mobile bearing (MB) TAR is one of the most commonly implanted ankle replacement systems in the UK.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance and safety of the Vantage Total Ankle system.

Patients who are offered the Vantage MB TAR will be assessed invited to take part in the study. Following informed consent, patients will complete validated questionnaires and their range of motion at the ankle will be measured using validated techniques. This will be done preoperatively and post operatively (6-months and 1-year). There will be a total of up to 6 Follow-up visits for up to 10 years.
