Research summary
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the consensus bleeding assessment tool that has been developed by the BEST collaborative. Assessments of clinical bleeding form an important component of many platelet transfusion trials, but unfortunately, most studies have documented clinical bleeding in different ways, which makes comparison of results between studies very difficult. This study describes a validation step, to establish that a consensus tool provides reliable results when undertaken by two different assessors on the same occasions. Agreeing a final internationally acceptable tool like this one, would considerably help researchers in the future when designing new clinical studies, or comparing results between studies.
