Research summary
This study will involve the recruitment of 40 patients who have been diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (AS a form of spinal arthritis) and attend the Rheumatolgy and Physiotherapy clinics at Altnagelvin Area Hospital. The study will involve placing a CE marked sensor called ViMove on key areas of the back to allow back movements to be recorded. The objective is to assess the reliability of the ViMove sensor in measuring spinal flexibility and to determine if it could be a reliable tool to assist in diagnosing AS at an earlier stage in its development to enable earlier treatment intervention.
