Research summary
The project aims to examine if using mindfulness as a pre-therapy intervention, with NHS Mental Health service users, before they engage in their allocated therapy pathway, will improve the users engagement and reduce dropout rates.
This is compliant with the theory of consciousness raising, as per the stages of change model (Prochaska and DiClemente, 1984). Consciousness raising aims to educate the user in becoming more aware of the problems they are struggling with (consciously or not) and to help them identify, changes that they may make. Often in therapy people will dropout, as they are not really conscious, as to what is going wrong for them.REC name
