Research summary
This project aims to evaluate the feasibility and potential effects of an 8-week music therapy programme in care home settings and community settings for Indian and Pakistani residents with cognitive impairment and care home staff. The music therapy programme involves the use of an artificial intelligence-driven music listening app (MediMusic), supported by an individualised care plan and training delivered by an interventionist to care staff. Music listening is widely recognised as beneficial for people living with dementia. However, few music listening interventions have been developed for and tested with South Asian communities. In this study, we are testing a new version of MediMusic with a newly integrated catalogue of Indian and Pakistani music.
