  • Research summary

Previous audit in the author's local area indicates that leg ulcer management in the community setting could be improved. Leg ulcer management policy is often not adhered to and patients often do not receive adequate assessment of their leg ulcers. This means that a high percentage of patients are not receiving optimal treatment. Reasons given for this include lack of knowledge around leg ulcer management amongst nursing staff, ineffective communication between staff and patients and patient non-concordance. The patient focus group will explore reasons which could explain this and strategies to address these issues.
