  • Research summary

The aim of this research is to provide high quality assays that support the prediction and characterisation of type 1 diabetes and related autoimmune diseases. These assays will also provide us with the tools needed to investigate the natural history and causes of these diseases.

These objectives will be achieved by using existing samples from studies for which ethical approval has expired all of which were collected prior to 01 September 2006 that are either non-relevant material or tissues that are held under licence. These samples will be used to support the development of improved assays for established and novel disease biomarkers as well as the validation, standardisation and quality control of existing assays.
