Data collection arrangements
Consent will be taken by the clinical team who will file the forms securely in NHS offices. Samples will be collected into prealiquoted containers and transported to the Jack Birch Unit, University of York either by the clinical or research team, or by postage/courier using Royal Mail-approved biological transport containers (BioPack™). The JBU has card-restricted access and password-protected computers. Samples will be stored in the JBU in their HTA-approved storage facilities.
Research programme
We are a collaboration of scientists, clinicians and industry specialists with interest in diseases of the urinary bladder spanning the human lifetime. We share a common vision that integrating our knowledge of and expertise in human urothelial biology and bladder disease will lead to new therapies for poorly understood or managed urological conditions, including painful bladder syndrome, overactive bladder and recurrent urinary tract infection, as well as reducing the incidence of renal damage. We propose a co-ordinated network wherein we will a) promote inclusive cross-disciplinary and cross-speciality communication; b) advance insight by developing data-based resources representing urothelium from normal, disease and treated versus in vitro states; and c) facilitate the selection and delivery of therapy to patients.
