Research summary
The project explores, with unpaid carers and professionals, the lived experience of receiving care articulated in the Welsh Carers Charter (Welsh Government 2022), for example in having access to a carers assessment.
Specifically the project will examine the impact of the new Unpaid Carer’s Charter and ask whether through an articulation of rights it provides a comprehensive offer of health and social care to carers and explores whether this can be shown in the lived experience of unpaid carers and if relationships between carers and professionals provide barriers or enhance the available support on offer?
Here the 'lived experience' refers to the "Personal knowledge about the world gained through direct, first-hand involvement in everyday events rather than through representations constructed by other people" as defined by the Oxford Dictionary.
