Research summary
Many specialist services within the NHS are being reconfigured as regional centres around which other primary, second, and community services are also being re-organised. This study aims to understand the reconfiguration of major trauma services within the East Midlands region to identify lessons for similar service re-configurations. It involves in-depth qualitative analysis of this re-organisation over a 2 year period, including interviews with staff representatives, observations of decision-making processes and clinical interactions, video of handover and focus groups with patient representatives.
