  • Data collection arrangements

The UNCOVER project incorporates all de-identified blood cancer patient data from the following datasets: Cancer Registry (patient demographics, diagnostic data, treatment data), Rapid Cancer Registration Dataset (patient demographics, diagnostic data, treatment data), SACT dataset (data on all patients treated with systemic anti-cancer therapies in or funded by the NHS in England), Diagnostic Imaging Dataset (data on type of diagnostic imaging test performed on patients and body site of test), National Radiotherapy Dataset (data on all patients treated with radiotherapy), HES Admitted Care (all inpatient admissions), HES Outpatient (all outpatient episodes), HES Accident & Emergency (all AED attendances), and Cancer Waiting Times (data on all cancer referral to treatment time). Demographics include age, gender and ethnicity. The database currently incorporates data from patients diagnosed in 2014 until the end of 2022, with annual updates being provided by NCRAS. The 2025 data release includes a matched cohort of patients with non-melanoma skin cancer which functions as a control population.

  • Research programme

The UNCOVER study group has the largest blood cancer dataset within the UK, provided by NCRAS, incorporating data on over 267,000 blood cancer patients, which puts it in a unique position to address a wealth of research questions and act a national resource. The project will identify all patients with any form of blood cancer diagnosed since 2014. The cohort will include patients with any additional cancer diagnosis including other types of blood cancer, or non-haematological cancers.
