Data collection arrangements
UK Blood Cancer Biobank is made up of two collections; the UK CLL Biobank which collects from clinical trials and observational studies and PTCL Biobank which is a completed collection of samples and data.
Samples held are serum, plasma, cryopreserved peripheral blood mononuclear cells, saliva that has germline DNA extracted, cryopreserved mononuclear cells from bone marrow aspirates and Formalin Fixed Paraffin Embedded (FFPE) tissue blocks. these are stored in temperature monitored conditionsResearch programme
The UK Blood Cancer Biobank is of pivotal importance to the NCRI CLL trials portfolio and NCRI Lymphoma research, as it allows the collection and storage of clinical samples to the highest standards For CLL it allows the collection of patient samples across multiple trials and in doing so, the Biobank provides the UK with an unrivalled resource for high quality biomarker research which will ultimately lead to the application of stratified medicine to CLL therapy. The transfer of the National collection of PTCL samples and data will lead to similar interest.
