Data collection arrangements
We will collect deidentified data relating to the allergic reaction on an online Case Report Form: details of the reaction will be entered into the online form by a patient's treating NHS healthcare professional, including the patient’s age at the time of reaction and date of reaction. We will also collect data relating to the circumstances of the reaction from the patient/parent/legal guardian, including a patient assessment of the severity of symptoms experienced. This information will be collected only after participants have given informed consent, by asking them to complete an online Patient Self-Assessment Questionnaire and provide the first part of the postcode (no other identifier).
The UK Anaphylaxis Registery will be fully integrated into an existing European Anaphylaxis Registry established under EU legislation and which has been active for more than 10 years, with the deidentified data stored on the same system.Research programme
Summary data collected on the NORA platform will be reviewed with colleagues from the UK Food Standards Agency and other external experts, to help guide public policy (set by FSA) around food allergy in the UK. The steering group includes representation from patient charities (Anaphylaxis Campaign, Allergy UK), which will facilitate dissemination of findings back to consumers with food allergies.
