Research summary
Part 3 of the study is a multinational study taking place in the UK. Parts 1 and 2 will take place in Germany only.
Part 3: TRUST trial
This study compares two strategies in the therapy of advanced ovarian cancer. There are currently two treatment options accepted worldwide that can be applied. One option is to have surgery first (this operation is called Primary Debulking Surgery) in order to remove all visible disease, followed by six cycles of chemotherapy. The other option is to receive three cycles of chemotherapy first, followed by surgery (this operation is called Interval debulking surgery) and then three more cycles of chemotherapy afterwards for completion.
The aim of this study is to assess the value of these two approaches, and compare their value in the management of this disease.
Furthermore, we want to investigate the impact of both approaches on patients’ short-and long term quality of life, as well as to compare the associated surgical complications.
The results of this study will help us understand what the best treatment strategy is for patients suffering from cancer of the ovary, fallopian tube or peritoneum.
