Research summary
This translational study aims to combine existing and new technologies (either located at the University of Leicester or with external third parties) to advance our understanding of the biology and evolutionary history that drives mesothelioma, and to advance stratified treatment for patients with mesothelioma by utilising samples and data collected during previous ethically approved University of Leicester sponsored trials, where patients have provided consent for future use. Samples and data will be used to investigate the genomic, transcriptomic, epigenetic, immunophenotypic and tumour environment of mesothelioma to enrich our understanding of this complex disease. Artificial intelligence (AI) may also be used with digital pathology for AI based diagnostic analysis and with digital radiology for AI based volume estimation via a CRUK trusted research environment.
