Research summary
Haemorrhoidal disease (HD) is the most common type of anorectal complaint worldwide, with a significant negative impact on patients’ quality of life.
We developed and validated a (Dutch) disease-specific PROM for HD: The PROM-Haemorrhoidal Impact and Satisfaction Score (PROM-HISS). The PROM-HISS was based on interviews with HD patients and closely followed guidelines for PROM development. It is currently only available in Dutch and the aim of this study is to create an English version. In order to do this we are testing the translated documents on a suitable English speaking patient group and reviewing this questionnaire in the light of these participants comments prior to sharing the final documents.
