  • Data collection arrangements

    The data to be stored is also covered by another ethics application 17/WM/0050:
    1. demographics information, reproductive history, from one or both partners attending the miscarriage services. They will be asked to fill in questionnaire and will be given help to do this.
    2. All existing relevant investigation results will be imported into the trial database system from existing hospital systems (for example CRRS/Lorenzo).
    3. Experimental investigations (covered by other ethics applications) will be entered directly.
    4. Letters to GP regarding miscarriage
    5. In future pregnancies, viability scans will be imported from the current Viewpoint, digital, ultrasound results storage system.
    6. Information about antenatal care including, serum screening, booking scans, anomaly scans and growth scans will (be imported from Viewpoint where they exist or entered directly into the research system).
    7. Pregnancy outcome details will be requested from the patient or access though data linkage
    8.The baby’s NHS number will be requested through appropriate consent so that follow up of the baby’s development can be facilitated. Information regarding developmental follow up will be requested from GP records though data linkage.

  • Research programme

    This database is to underpin,The Tommy’s National Centre for Miscarriage Research, a Research Centre which brings together an interdisciplinary Translational Medicine research grouping jointly at the University of Warwick, University of Birmingham and Imperial College London. The Centre is dedicated to research across all aspects of miscarriage and early pregnancy complications including medical, basic scientific, social and ethical issues. In facilitating this research portfolio, one aspect includes the centralised secure storage of all data relating to the research from every participating site, which is to be known as Tommy’s Net.
