• Data collection arrangements

  Tommy’s National Reproductive Health Biobank is a virtual networked biobank comprising of 6 centres (Birmingham, Coventry, Edinburgh, Manchester, London (Kings College, Imperial College). All samples are collected with patient’s informed consent. Samples will be stored at 6 sites, in secure premises with controlled access to authorised tissue bank staff only.\nAll donors will be assigned a two unique ids, A Tommy’s ID and a local sample ID. The local sample ID will be assigned at each of the sites, and the Tommy’s ID will be assigned once the data is integrated on to the main Tommy’s biobank database located and hosted by Warwick University. \nThe Tommy’s ID is attached to all samples that are retrieved including associated paperwork. This unique ID is the only identifier entered onto the electronic database. A copy of donor identifiable information, with relevant barcode, is kept on paper to allow tissues and samples to be linked anonymised. This paperwork will be held by each of the sites.\n

• Research programme

  A wide range of basic and translational research using techniques like basic DNA, RNA extractions, immunohistochemistry (IHC), Polymerase Chain Reactions (PCR), insitu hybridisation techniques, primary cell culture, as well as new techniques in next generation sequencing, transcriptomic, metabolomics and proteomics. There will be no experimental drug testing or cosmetic testing or any other consumer goods testing. All tissue request applications will be assessed by Tissue Access Committee consisting of clinicians, scientists and patient advocates. Tissues will be released upon successful approval and agreement of Material Transfer Agreement.
