Research summary
Patellofemoral pain Syndrome is one of the most perplexing and clinically challenging orthopaedic conditions. It is a condition caused by muscle imbalance due to overuse or misuse of muscle groups it is difficult to diagnose and treatment focuses on correcting lower limb biomechanics. This involves engaging the patient in understanding the causes of their pain and their poor movement patterns, then teaching them how they can correct it.
Many studies have been completed involving treatment protocols but none examining the patient’s perspective on how this condition affects their functional activities.
I propose to draw a profile of the PFPS sufferer while examining the affect PFPS has on health status, lower limb function, ADL, sport and quality of life. This has not been studied before.REC name
