Research summary
The study will explore if mobile technology via text messaging is an acceptable method of reaching unpaid carers in Cornwall. Data from the text messages will be themed on common issues and concerns experienced by unpaid carers. The data will be analysed using Natural Language Processing (NLP) to theme data to identify any help-seeking behaviours or other themes to identify common themes and issues faced by the participants. A digital platform will be developed to present anonymised themes from the data and to test if satellite technology enables an acceptable view of the data. It is proposed that this may be of use to health professionals and service providers in the future.
the objectives are;• To access and amplify the voice of unpaid carers by collective theming of issues/concerns
• To explore the acceptability of mobile technology to engage and reach adult unpaid carers across Cornwall
• To use natural language processing on data collected via mobile technology to provide insight, using a web-based dashboard, for support services
• Allow personalised SMS messaging to engage carers in the 5-ways-to-wellbeingREC name
