Data collection arrangements
Tissue Solutions collects human tissue and biofluids from consenting donors for research purposes. Samples are collected prospectively to researchers specific requirements at approved collaborating sites. The majority of samples will be transported directly from the collection site to the researchers. Any samples which are stored will be held at HistologiX Ltd, an HTA licensed storage facility in Nottingham. Requests for stored samples will undergo the same tissue access approval process as those for prospective collections.
Healthy volunteers and donors with a range of conditions including but not limited to: haematological diseases and disorders, cancer and neoplasms (including leukaemia and mesothelioma), cardiovascular, congenital, eye diseases, ENT, immunological and autoimmune, inflammatory, infection, metabolic and endocrine, musculoskeletal, neurological, oral and gastrointestinal, renal and urogenital, reproductive, pregnancy, respiratory, dermatological, mental health (only donors with capacity to consent).
Sample types:- blood (menstrual, venous and capillary), skin, hair, nails, faces, urine, surgical surplus tissues, diagnostic remnants, samples obtained during surgery with consent (ocular fluids, joint aspirates and CSF), buccal swabs, saliva, sputum, tears, ascitic fluid, non-foetal products of conception including cord blood.
Research programme
Tissue Solutions distributes human samples to both commercial and non-commercial researchers who's research requires human tissue and biofluid samples in order to advance the following areas of biomedicine: pre-clinical drug discovery and development diagnostics biomarker research for evaluating drug efficacy and toxicology translational medicine xenograft models
