Research summary
Myeloproliferative disorders or neoplasms are conditions where there is overproduction of either the red cells or the platelets in the blood. This can be associated with both bleeding and clotting problems. Patients are treated to reduce the overproduction but some continue to have a problem with clotting. This study aims to measure thrombin generation in these patients, which gives an overview of the clotting system and will help to tell us why some patients with the same condition have problems with clotting or bleeding whilst others do not
