Research summary
Lifelight® is a computer program (“app”) which can be used on standard smart devices that contain a camera. The app uses data from looking at a person’s face to measure vital signs including blood pressure, heart rate. The app is still under development, meaning that it is still “learning” the best match between the information it collects from the face and the values of vital signs measured using standard equipment. The app needs more information from people in the form of blood pressure measurements to become more accurate at measuring this vital sign.
This study aims to collect blood pressure and pulse rate data using Lifelight and an automated BP monitor. The Adams Practice and collaborative centres will serve as Participant Identification Centres (PIC), where patients will be informed about the study, consented (by BU researchers), and booked for participation in blood pressure checks. The practice will facilitate the recruitment process by providing information about the study and coordinating with study staff for participant scheduling. The study session and activities will be conducted by researchers employed by Xim Limited or Bournemouth University (BU).
The aim of the study is to collect blood pressure and pulse rate data using the Lifelight® application and automated blood pressure monitor in a wider population, including people with hypotension, hypertension and normotension across a range of age groups.
Objectives:
1. Recruit sufficient participants to meet the aim of the study
2. Collect blood pressure and pulse rate using the Lifelight application and automated blood pressureREC name
