Research summary
Respiratory rate is one of the key vital signs which indicate that a patient’s condition may be deteriorating. This investigation is designed to assess respiratory rate (RR) with particular interest in those values outside the normal ranges with the RespiraSense device compared to the standard of care method of manual counting by Health Care Professionals (HCPs). To achieve this there are two arms.
The first arm is following patients on their journey through the bronchoscopy suite where their RR will be recorded with both methods pre-operatively, during the procedure and again post-operatively to pick up on any fluctuations in the RR throughout.
The second arm will involve monitoring patients in the Respiratory High Care (RHC) for 24 hours with the device and manual counting of RR will be performed throughout this time period also
This investigation will recruit 145 patients over 3 monthsREC name
