Research summary
A retrospective, non-blinded, randomised controlled trial comparing conventional treatment with tight control in gout. Each patient will be studied over a 12 month period. Eligible subjects will be recruited from primary care, A&E departments and rheumatology outpatient clinics. Written informed consent will be obtained from each patient. Patients will be assigned into one of two groups of 55 patients each; Conventional Treatment Group and Tight Control Group. The Conventional Treatment Group will be reviewed every 6 months and the Tight Control Group at one monthly intervals.
