Research summary
This study seeks to explore the experiences of patients using the Department of Sport and Exercise Medicine, University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust that are injured as a result of sport and/or exercising practice, for example, footballers, gym users, triathletes, etc. It will aim to explore the following:(1)To highlight patients' journey up to the point of, and through, their care at the Department of Sport and Exercise Medicine and their choices/reasons for particular pathways of care; (2) To explore the extent to which chronic physical injury limits their physicality and affects their social and emotional well-being. Participants will be required to be patients at the Department of Sport and Exercise Medicine, aged over 18, English speaking and suffering from a chronic physical injury as a result of participation in sport/exercise. The study forms part of a PhD study with data collection lasting up to 1 year in duration.
