Data collection arrangements
The RM/ICR data repository will contain routinely collected data about patients held in their electronic healthcare records with linked imaging and genomic data within the proposed inclusion criteria except for the exceptions outlined below:
Inclusion criteria:
Anonymous data only studies run by The Royal Marsden, Institute of Cancer Research or other NHS Trusts, industry or external institutions. The Data Access Committee (consisting of clinicians, representatives from information governance, academics, public contributors and research governance) will grant access if a study is in the public interest and meet all information governance and data protection requirements.
Pseudonymised data shared for research will not include direct links between a study ID and direct identifiers like NHS number. These data will be retained by The Royal Marsden such that data will be anonymous when accessed and processed by researchers.
In all cases clinical data and limited demographics such that the data released for research can be considered anonymous will be included.Exclusion Criteria
Study requires Medicines and Health Regulatory Authority (MHRA) approval.
Study is classified as ‘Research’ under the UK Policy Framework for Health and Social Care Research with the exception of Data Only Studies.

Data is full of information and the more information we have, the more we can learn about cancer. It has the potential to transform cancer treatment, care and research. Using linked anonymised data from the RM/ICR data repository, we will develop new tools that accurately diagnose those with cancer and tell us where the cancer is in the body. This includes using body scans, such as MRI and CT. This will help us select the best treatment for each person. Using powerful computers and novel analyses, including artificial intelligence (AI), we will look for patterns in health data we regularly collect while we care for patients that we would not have found previously. These patterns will help researchers find biological insights into cancer that they can use to improve our ability to diagnose and treat cancer. This will help us to: • Create the next generation of imaging tools by exploring imaging biomarkers and unlocking insights into tumour biology. • Develop and improve AI tools to improve patient outcomes, generate new knowledge and increase efficiency. • Learn from a unified and integrated view of the entire patient pathway through application of novel data science methodologies, harnessing the power of data.
