Research summary
Cognitive problems in people with schizophrenia predict functional recovery even with the best possible rehabilitation opportunities and optimal medication. However, one new psychological treatment known as cognitive remediation therapy (CRT) can improve cognitive and functional recovery – such as social relationships and the opportunity to go to work or take part in further education. CIRCUITS is a computerised version of cognitive remediation therapy. Using a participatory methodology (Rose et al, 2011), we have generated two self-report service user and staff measures of satisfaction with the CIRCUITS therapy. These measures were developed using focus groups to refine an interview guide which initially evaluated service users' satisfaction with paper-and-pencil CRT (Rose et al, 2008) and subsequently CIRCUITS (Reeder et al, 2016). The purpose of this study is to assess the inter-rater reliability, feasibility and acceptability of these two measures in order that they can be used in both research and clinical settings.
