Research summary
This study represents the UK-cased part of the European multi-centre project of the European Society for Dermatology and Psychiatry and aims to determine the prevalence of stigmatisation and body dysmorphic disorder in patients with skin diseases. The project also aims to investigate the relationship between stigma and wellbeing in people with skin conditions and also to identify whether being more psychologically flexible moderates any relationship between stigma and wellbeing. 250 patients will be recruited from sites within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and Barts Health NHS Trust. 125 healthy controls will be recruited from hospital staff at each site. The study will be a questionnaire study.
