Perception of patients with sickle cell disease about uncomplicated pain crisis managed at home.
Sickle cell disease is inherited by infants or babies; however, it can also exits in childhood, adulthood, and may last till death. The extent of sickle cell disease is extremely high among African countries; though, its prevalence is also increasing at a constant rate within UK. Adult patients of sickle cell disease usually cope with chronic pain, anemia, cardiac problems, renal problems, and other physical issues. For this purpose, home care service is provided to adult patients for the management of their uncomplicated pain crisis. However, the benefits of such services are still unclear in regards of the impact and benefits to this group of patients.
This study will explore the experiences and the impact of home care pain management services provided among adult patients with sickle cell disease registered at the local hospital.
Qualitative research design. Semi-structured interviews will be used for collecting data. Primary data will be collected through 12 adult patients of sickle cell disease registered at the local hospital. Semi-structured interviews will be conducted by the specialist Nurse (Researcher) and data will be analyzed using IPA approach. Data will be transcribed into word documents for the free text comments and sorted into themes, then compared for identifying similarities and differences. Confidentiality of all participants involved in the study will be ensured throughout the study.
Possible Results: It is expected that the adult patients will provide ideal data related to the benefits of home care service provided at the local hospital.
Ethical Consideration: All of the ethical principles will be followed properly in order to reduce the risk of ethical complications.REC name
