Research summary
The current research involves conducting a study looking at the nature and extent of bullying within low and medium secure services. The aim of the research is to gain an understanding of this issue from both a staff and patients perspective and to see if the experience is different depending on the level of security of the hospital. This research will endevour to highlight the distinct need to be able to support individuals who encounter such difficutlies though evidence based practice. The participants that I will be asking to take part in the research will be from within Partnerships in Care psychiatric hospitals. More specifically those patients and their carers from Suttons Manor Hospital and The North London Clinic will be used. Firstly, background information will be collected from all patients including their section, level of security, length of stay in hospital and ethnic background. Then 70 patients and their primary nurses will be asked questions to complete a bullying questionnaire. The staff questionaire will incoperate different questions to the questionaire that is given to the patients.
