Research summary
The MJFF LRRK2 Investigative Therapeutics Exchange (LITE) initiative funded by The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research (MJFF) is an observational, multi-center study with the additional option for follow up. This study aims to discover and test new biological markers for the Parkinson’s disease (PD) associated Leucine rich repeat kinase 2 (LRRK2) in PD genetic and idiopathic PD, people with first degree relatives with PD and healthy volunteers and correlate these with clinical and imaging features of progression. The expected outcome is to define biological pathways and other markers for LRRK2-driven PD that can be applied for patient stratification, quantification of progression and target engagement in clinical trials.
