Research summary
Long Q-T syndrome is an inherited conductivity disorder. It is currently not known how the diagnosis affects the lives of children and young people. This study will explore the perceptions and experiences of children who are known to carry the long Q-T gene of living with the condition. The study will adopt a qualitative design and will recruit children and young people through clinicians within a tertiary care centre in England. Data will be collected using semi structured interviews which will be conducted in the child/family's home, hospital or university environment depending upon their preference. Interview data will be transcribed and analysed using a thematic content analysis approach. Research ethics, management of safeguarding concerns and lone working risks are addressed within the study design.
