Research summary
The project will work directly with young liver patients (aged 16-24 years) and medical staff (consultants, nurses and others who support young liver patients) across three hospitals in England to identify the information they need to make the transition from children’s/paediatric services to adult services, and to take on more responsibility for their health as they become more independent. A mobile application (app) will then be developed with young people who have liver disease which will provide information and support to help understand transition, manage their condition during this time, take decisions about their care and increase their independence. The young people will then be asked what they think about the app. They will not be evaluating or testing the feasibility of the app.
