Research summary
The north of Scotland is a unique region of the United Kingdom. It has areas of dense urban geography such as Aberdeen, the third largest city in Scotland and also areas of significant rurality. As yet, it has not been established if living in these different regions influences several aspects of cancer outcomes.
It may be that patients living in one region (rural or urban) present later than others with symptoms. It may be that uptake of screening programmes is different, or that patient management is different. Finally, it is possible that outcome of cancer patients, is different, depending on whether they live in a rural or urban region. Within this project, we seek to answer the above questions.REC name
